Tuesday 8th April 2008 The race for Champion Victorian First Season Sire line honours will again go down to the wire, with Estambul currently heading the list thanks to the up and coming Robert Smerdon trained filly Turquia winning impressively on Saturday at Caulfield. That was her second win and with more improvement in her she looks to have a bright future. Estambul stands at Ealing Park who has enjoyed a recent purple patch with another of their recent residents Good Journey enjoying Group 1 success after Grand Journey continued the good run of WA Oaks winners taking on the males in the WA Derby and winning. |

Janelle Pitts and Mr Showoff touch down in UK |

Janelle Pitts and Mr Showoff have arrived in England after a 36 hour flight from Tullamarine Airport, as part of their quest to qualify for the Australian Three Day Event Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Pitts and Mr Showoff are an elite combination in this field, and both have been residents of Victoria's North East region for the past couple off years, with Janelle being employed at Neville Murdoch's Larneuk Stud at Euroa. |

Darley to Sponsor Seymour Cup in 2008 |

Tuesday 15th April 2008 Country racing spring feature, the Listed Seymour Cup, has secured sponsorship for 2008 from International breeding operation Darley. Seymour Racing Club Chief Executive Penny Reeve said the Club was excited to be involved in this partnership, with the Darley Seymour Cup meeting to be held on Sunday 19 October 2008.
“Darley’s passion for racing and breeding in Australia has been well documented, with studs already operating at Seymour in Victoria and Aberdeen in NSW,” Reeve said. “The sponsorship of the Darley Seymour Cup is a further commitment to country racing in Victoria and recognition of the growth and strength of thoroughbred breeding in north-east Victoria. |

TBA News: Mr Peter McGauran appointed Chief Executive of TBA |

Thursday 10th April 2008 Thoroughbred Breeders Australia Limited (TBA) today advised of the appointment of a new CEO to head the peak industry body. TBA President Mr John Messara said he was delighted to announce that former Agriculture Minister Mr Peter McGauran would join the TBA as its Chief Executive. "We do feel that Mr McGauran can make a significant contribution to the administration and further growth of our industry," said Messara. |
